on October 30, 2016, following the alleged posting of a derogatory Facebook post about Islam. Over a hundred Hindu homes and 15 temples were vandalized and looted, and several people were injured in the ensuing violence.

The violence spread to other parts of Nasirnagar Upazila, and Hindu families were forced to flee their homes. The Bangladesh government condemned the violence and deployed additional police and paramilitary forces to the area. The government also ordered an investigation into the incident, but no one has been held accountable for the violence.

The mob vandalized and looted 15 temples and over 100 homes of Hindu families. They also attacked and injured several people. The attacks were condemned by both national and international organizations. The Bangladesh government has promised to bring the perpetrators to justice.

The Nasirnagar violence was one of the most serious episodes of communal violence in Bangladesh in recent years. It highlighted the deep-rooted religious tensions in the country and the vulnerability of the Hindu minority. The incident also raised concerns about the effectiveness of the Bangladesh government in protecting its citizens from religious violence.

The attacks drew international condemnation from human rights groups. The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights called for the perpetrators to be brought to justice and for the government to take steps to prevent further violence.

The Nasirnagar violence was part of a wider trend of attacks on religious minorities in Bangladesh. In 2016, there were 129 attacks on Hindus, according to the BHBCUC

However, the violence in Nasirnagar and the government’s response to it have done little to address the deep-seated religious tensions in Bangladesh. The Hindu community continues to feel vulnerable and marginalized, and there is a risk that such violence could erupt again in the future.
